AOHT Membership Frequently Asked Questions

How much is AOHT Membership?

Starting 2022, AOHT membership rates for practicing OHTs are at a flat fee of S$50 per person per year. Prorated membership applies for those who join from 1 July of the calendar year.
Note: Membership excludes Professional Indemnity (eg. QBE/DPL)

Does AOHT still provide professional indemnity bundling with QBE?

Yes. QBE professional indemnity for the current workscope (as stated on SDC website) is at $55 nett.

For OHTs who have an expanded workscope in 3-Dimensional Intraoral Scanning (Letter of Approval from SDC), professional indemnity fees is at $58 nett.

OHTs who have an overseas expanded workscope (approved by SDC) will have to write in to us separately for QBE to provide the relevant quote for each additional skillset.

Does AOHT offer any other professional indemnity options to OHTs?

Yes. We will be partnering with DPL Insurance to provide preferential rates for OHTs.

DPL has kindly agreed to conduct half-yearly CPE-approved online lectures for all AOHT members. Emails will be sent out periodically to all AOHT members to attend the seminars.

It would be advisable to have at least 1 professional insurance provider who can professionally indemnify you adequately.

Note: In the event of a dispute, a dental professional should only engage one professional insurance provider to look into the ongoing case.

Is it important for me to be professionally indemnified? What if I am not?

It is absolutely important to be professionally indemnified, regardless of which company you decide on.
An OHT who is not professionally indemnified may run the risk of having to fork out much more personally than if they were indemnified.
AOHT strongly encourages all OHTs to be professionally indemnified to adequately protect oneself in the case of any professional misconduct or incidences of patient complaints.

If I am working in a public health institution, am I still able to join AOHT? How much do I have to pay?

Yes! We welcome all Dental Therapists, Dental Hygienists and Oral Health Therapists who are working in Singapore at present to be part of this larger community.
