QBE Dental Insurance via AOHT

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What kind of coverage will I be receiving?

Coverage will only apply for work-scope listed in the Singapore Dental Council website.

Should you need to make a monetary compensation, the QBE insurance will pay for the compensation amount, and all legal costs, up to $100,000, subject to a $500 deductible each and every claim. This is provided that the treatment that you have provided is well within the supervisory standards and stipulated work-scope.

In the event of a claim, do note that you need to be covered by the insurance on both the date of the incident, and the date of the formal complaint, which might be a few years later. Hence, we strongly advise that you do not let your insurance lapse. The above is always subjected to the policy terms and conditions.

2. I have expanded workscope, which will be approved by SDC. Will I be covered by that?

Please let us know. QBE will be able to customize a professional indemnity policy with more coverage for you.

3. A coverage of $100,000 is not enough for me. I work long hours, see many patients, and the patients I see are generally higher net worth. Can I increase the coverage?

Please let us know. QBE will be able to customize a professional indemnity policy with more coverage for you.

4. I have an existing indemnity. What happens if I buy QBE indemnity?

Should there be a claims case against you, you will be able to activate both policies, up to the limit of each coverage. However, deductible will apply on both sides, if any.

The above is always subjected to the policy terms and conditions.

5. I work in the public sector and am already covered by the government indemnity. Why do I need QBE indemnity then?

The government indemnity covers only your work in your official government workplace. If you engage in external work, like private practice or homes, the QBE indemnity will provide you the necessary coverage. In addition, the QBE indemnity covers you for as long as you stay insured with them, even if you switch practices. This means you still get covered even if it is a treatment rendered 4 years ago in the previous practice, if you have stayed insured with QBE over the years. The government indemnity covers only your work in your official government workplace. 6. I don't feel the need to own the indemnity. Should anything happen, I will answer for it.

Owning a professional indemnity not only protects the professional, but the patient as well. A situation where the professional does not have enough means to compensate the patient where it is due, it can be avoided if the professional has an indemnity coverage in the first place.
